How much would I have to spend to purchase a horse? |
| Most people think that purchasing a horse would be extremely expensive, but that is not the case. You can purchase a horse usually around $1500.00. Sometimes more or less depending on the individual horses training, breeding, and temperament. |
I want a horse, but wouldn't I have to spend time with it everyday? I just don't think I have that much time. |
| Actually, you don't have to spend every day with your horse. Owning a horse does not require daily attention from the owner. If you board your horse at a full board facility, then they take care of all daily routines and your horse has the company of his pasture mates. In fact, over-handling your horse can actually create more bad than good. Horses do love their owners, but their true enjoyment comes from socializing with other horses. On average, horse owners usually ride their horses 1-2 times a week... some more, some less. But whatever your schedule, owning a horse can be a very rewarding experience. |
Where do I buy a horse? |
| There are several places such as individuals who you can find in the newspaper. Auctions are also another source for buying a horse. Breeders usually offer horses for sale. Boarding facilities sometimes know of a few horses for sale as well. But one thing to remember. Always take someone with you who knows what to look for and always have a "vet check" performed prior to the purchase. |
